Photographic Poem #7 / 14
Yesterday’s torrential rain made for one of the most challenging scenes so far. After an early morning spent putting the final details in place, the heavens opened — again! But with a makeshift roof of scaffolding and plastic over the camera, I managed to pull it off, much to the constant amusement of passersby as I ran back and forth with the self-timer and camera.
Then the weather changed completely! Brilliant sunshine and, finally, time to start working on the façade. It feels so good to be working with dry timber and to see how quickly things are taking shape. I’m halfway there now!
Tomorrow, I’ll continue with the cladding, battens, and preparations for the roof.

Photographic Poem #5-6 / 14
Less wind and an even layer of cloud finally allowed me to catch up with the project schedule. That meant I had time to build and photograph two completely different scenes for the poem. It’s a great relief, of course, to be back on track with the tight schedule, but above all, it was a pleasure to be able to work in much better conditions.
The white scene is a key component of the series, where the shifting shades of white against the surroundings play a crucial role. It takes that muted autumn light for the tones to truly come into their own.
Tomorrow brings a new weather forecast and one final scene before it’s time to tackle the house façade and extend the construction by 120 cm in height.

Photographic Poem #4 / 14
After some early preparations, it was time for the largest window scene in the entire project. The weather delivered perfection: sunshine during the shoot, and a rain shower only after everything was finished!
It was a day filled with wonderful feedback. Hearing all the interesting thoughts and perspectives from passersby about the view through the window gives me so much energy. It’s especially fun to see familiar faces returning to follow the construction of the set up close!
Now there are three more scenes with the indoor interiors before I need to step things up even further and tackle the exterior cladding and gutters.
10 poems left until the finish line!

Photographic Poem #3 / 14
After yesterday’s reworking of the framework in torrential rain, today it was time to prepare and photograph scene number 3 — The Blue Scene.
The wind put up quite a fight today, tearing at the set and the pelargoniums. For a while, it was genuinely nerve-racking to see whether the ground screws would hold, but the structure stood firm without any supports or an extra wall! A huge relief.
Tomorrow starts early, with painting, construction, and photography for scene number 4. Even though the road to the finish line is long and it can feel like a struggle at times, all the encouraging words from people passing by give me a tremendous boost of energy.
And being able to work right next to the river, with a view that is constantly changing, makes every hour of work a little easier.

Photographic Poem #2 / 14
From early morning until after sunset. Today’s work is one of the most time-consuming tasks in the project: three windows, complete with all their mouldings, in a headwind that only grew stronger as the day went on.
I knew from the start that there would be days when everything feels like a struggle and takes its toll. But all you can do is work your way through every phase and every setback. Just as the final touches were made and the scaffolding was rolled back in, the wind died down and a light rain began to fall.
Tomorrow’s schedule calls for restructuring the framework — in the rain, according to the forecast.

Photographic Poem 1#/14
Photographic Poem #1 / 14.
Early last winter, I planned the first staging and wished for a good start. The wind did its best to test my patience, but with mouldings, baseboards, and a box full of screws for company, I was joined by many curious onlookers. Now the first scene is done and dusted.
This is only the beginning. Tomorrow morning, the next one begins.

Finally the start of construction!
Today was finally the start of construction for my major project at Öbacka in Umeå! Everything went smoothly, and the timber frame that will support the 14 different set designs for my photographic poem is now anchored and in place.
I was a bit worried beforehand about how difficult it would be to get the ground screws down to the right depth and whether the structure would be stable enough against the wind. So it feels like a huge relief to check off this step and move forward in the process. Now ahead lie several weeks of intensive work—likely in somewhat more challenging weather than today's!

Final preparations before construction begins!
Now I'm back on home and can finally pick up the project where I left off a few weeks ago. Today I bought both the ground screws for the structure and other materials required to put together the timber frame on Tuesday next week. I’ve also spent time painting and working out a schedule for photographing the 14 different photographic poems.
I can see now that there is a lot of work ahead of me, and I hope the weather is on my side when it comes to installing the frame. It involves quite a few steps including earth drilling as well as on-site problem solving to get it properly in place. Still, it feels reasonably under control; I have the necessary skills and have set up the best possible conditions to reach this next milestone on Tuesday. To be continued with a mix of nervousness, but also deep joy in seeing these plans come to life!

Soon home again!
Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s opening and artist talk. It was a real pleasure showing you the project and sharing my thoughts and ideas from the past few weeks. The conversation was recorded and led by journalist Malin Palmquist. Hopefully, this exciting and insightful talk will be posted sometime soon.
I have now said goodbye to Östersund and am on my way home after nearly a month on the road. It feels great to finally be heading back, as there’s a lot of work to be done on my project before construction begins on August 4th, along with several preparations and meetings that need to be arranged before then. It feels a bit like I’ll be back to square one, but I know I’ve also done a lot of groundwork on the side during the trip. Hopefully, all those hours spent planning on the road will pay off once I get home and keep moving the project forward!

Östersund next stop!
The other day we returned to Sweden, Östersund this time. It feels a bit strange to be here as it’s a place I’ve never visited before, yet several of my photographic works from recent years are hanging in various public spaces here.
We are holding an exhibition here featuring our work from Norway, and I will be showing the same work, but this time in a different space—we’re actually exhibiting in Östersund's Old Church (Östersunds gamla kyrka). While the venue presents a lot of limitations, it also feels special to exhibit in a room so open to reflection and connection in different ways. It’s wonderful that our project and processes get to be part of this context.

More info soon..
Here is a quick photo from the opening of my installation "Memory Horizons" (Minneshorisonter), with more photos and descriptive text coming soon. It was wonderful to see people interact with my work, and I am very pleased with how the presentation turned out. Working with painting in this way and on this scale was such a fun experience.

Thank You Norway!
After a few intense and absolutely fantastic weeks in Surnadalsøra, I am leaving Norway filled with new inspiration, memories, and wonderful encounters. Having the opportunity to explore and create in a new place alongside the international group of artists In Process of the Landscape has been a true privilege.
A huge thank you to my fellow artists Linda Petersson Ödbring, Borahm Kim, Yujin Kim and Gustav hellberg. And a warm thank you to Jon Arne Mogstad and Cecilie Nissen at Surnadal Billag for your fantastic hospitality. You truly welcomed us with open arms. Thank you also to everyone who came to our exhibition!
Plenty of materials, a few artworks, and photos from the residency will be uploaded to the website soon, once I’ve recovered from this memorable trip.
Now it’s off to the Swedish mountains for a few days of field studies before the next joint exhibition, Processing of Landscape #2, opens in Östersund next week!

Opening of Processing Landscapes #1
Welcome to the opening of Processing Landscapes, an ongoing international artistic collaboration exploring the landscape as a collectively coexisting, ecological, and philosophical platform. The project stems from a shared desire to explore place through individual artistic processes shaped and developed through dialogue, geographical movement, and collective work.
The collaboration began during the exhibition Mediated Process at Cullity Gallery in Perth, where three of the artists met for the first time for a deeper artistic exchange. Shortly after, the group expanded, and today Processing Landscapesconsists of five artists:
Throughout July, four of the five artists have lived and worked together on a residency with us at Surnadal Billag Art Center. The exhibition shows the result of this process, featuring works in painting, photography, installation, text, and video that reflect the artists' different approaches to landscape as memory, belonging, and experience.
Processing Landscapes is part of the three-year project Site Stories from Surnadal (Stedsfortellinger fra Surnadal), belonging to the track focusing on the region's waterways the rivers and streams that have historically shaped agriculture, industry, and energy in Surnadal.
The project is part of Surnadal Billag's Site Stories project and is supported by Arts Council Norway, SpareBank 1 Nordmøre, Region Jämtland Härjedalen, Nordic Culture Point, the Helge Ax:son Johnson Foundation, the Längmanska Culture Foundation, JLK Jämtland County Art Association, Storsjöyran, and the Church of Sweden.
Join us, bring someone along, and experience the landscape through five distinct artistic perspectives!

On my legs again
The deadline is fast approaching, and our exhibition opens this Saturday, which means I have to finish my painting. It’s a race against the clock due to some unforeseen circumstances, but I am back on my feet today and slowly recovering from a muscle inflammation I developed a couple of days ago. It forced me to pay a visit to the Norwegian healthcare system to get painkillers for the severe pain, leaving me stuck spending the day resting on the bed and couch in the guest apartment, trying to get around on crutches.

The wihte cube
I decided very early on that I wanted to set up my installation in the white cube at the art center. This was partly to use good lighting to create an immersive effect where you feel enclosed by the installation, but also because it allows the brushstrokes and the painting itself to be highlighted in a subtle way without the surrounding environment taking over.
A fair amount of prep work is required to prepare the room so that it can accommodate both my piece and Gustav's video work.

Exhibtion plans
Work is in full swing for all of us artists on site, as well as for Gustav, who is currently in South Korea. Today, we began planning the exhibition by discussing and sharing our thoughts and ideas regarding our different works. It feels like it is going to be a wonderful exhibition, and it's exciting that we all have space to spread out. This allows us to create a slightly different kind of show one where visitors can wander through the building and encounter our various works and processes in different spaces.
I personally find it quite engaging to see exhibitions that leave a bit of breathing room between the pieces. It creates opportunities to step into distinct zones and environments where the artwork and physical space interact, contributing to a more intimate and open experience without feeling too overwhelming.

Painting in langre scale
I have now begun working on my installation, which will consist of a painterly installation on cotton fabric measuring approximately 9.5 x 1.6 meters. The color palette I have chosen to work with consists of colors that are abundant in the surrounding landscape: Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, and two different shades of green that create a nice balance against the intensity of the blue colors.
It feels a bit unfamiliar both to paint on such a scale and to work on the floor, which gives a different overview than what I am used to. However, there is plenty of time to finish the installation, which will be exhibited in a little over a week.

24 hours in Trondheim
After a bit of rain, we decided to head to Trondheim, only to encounter even more rain. Still, it was very fun and exciting to visit current exhibitions in a city I was visiting for the first time. It was fun, if a bit unfamiliar, to suddenly see so many people, as everyday life in Surnadal usually means running into quite few people at the grocery store.
I managed to buy some materials for my project, which I will start working on once I get back to the studio. It feels inspiring to dive deeper and realize the sketches that have been on my mind since I arrived here a few days ago. I also feel this is a great opportunity to try making an installation inspired by the surroundings—one that can be showcased on a monumental scale in the art center's large spaces. It truly is a luxury to have the chance to scale up and not let the space be limiting, but rather set the boundaries myself.

Field studies Innerdalen
Today, the field studies began with a trip to the fantastic Innerdalen. We walked into this amazing nature reserve. It was perfect hiking weather with just a light drizzle, making for a pleasant walk with plenty of opportunities to pause and take a closer look at nature. Immersing oneself in a landscape like this dotted with charming small cottages and huts with grass-covered roofs along the valley truly highlights how deeply nature and culture are interconnected, offering rich inspiration for how environment and heritage shape artistic expression.

Exploration of the area
After our initial exploration of the area, we got to meet Jon Arne Mogstad, the artistic director of Surnadal Billag, we began exploring the surroundings by visiting various mountains and the local landscape. There is a lot to take in and process. It’s easy to be captivated by the landscape, which reminds me of places I saw in Iceland a few years ago. The proximity to fjords, steep cliffs, and mountain formations stretches along the various roads we travel.
This picture was taken in the area about 20 minutes from our apartment and the art center. What a luxury to have these surroundings for the coming weeks, and how fun to finally be out seeing and discovering the area together with the other artists.

Arrival at Surnadal Billag
We have now arrived at our residency at Surnadal Billag, which will be our base for the next few weeks. Here, we will have the opportunity to work on a large and monumental scale, and later, towards the end of our stay, put together an exhibition.
It is always a bit nerve-wracking to go to a residency and create work based on the conditions of the location, but that is also what makes it so inspiring getting new angles and perspectives that can spark new ideas and thoughts about one's work. It is also a wonderful luxury to take a bit of a break from my other jobs and fully immerse myself in a place like this, alongside others who are also visiting for the first time.

Artsit in residence in Norway
After a few weeks working on my ongoing construction project, I’m now swapping Sweden for Norway and heading off to an artist residency at Surnadalsøra in Norway. I’ve just made a layover in Åre, about 7 hours from home, before continuing the journey onwards to Norway. It’s going to be exciting to change environments and do an international exchange together with Swedish and South Korean artists. We're part of an artist group that is "In process of..." founded by Swedish artist Gustav Hellberg that now lives in South Korea.
Very happy to be invited to be part of this project and artist collective. We’ll be exploring and conducting various field studies in the landscape in both Norway and later Sweden.

The space is now packed with heaps of timber of all kinds
The delivery I’ve been waiting for has finally arrived, the building materials are here! The space is now packed with heaps of timber of all kinds, alongside various boards and sheets that will soon transform into doors, window sills, and everything in between. It feels absolutely fantastic to finally reach this fun milestone. Construction is officially on the schedule. Let's do this!
Now, I can finally start measuring, sawing, and truly bringing this project into physical reality. This is the moment where the theoretical planning ends and the practical steps begin—the kind of hands-on work where you can’t pre-program every detail, but instead have to make concrete, real-time decisions on-site. Honestly, it makes me even more fired up to face these new challenges head-on and make this happen. It is going to demand a lot from me, but all the meticulous groundwork and planning have prepared me for this. From securing the right tools to sorting out the logistics, every single effort now is laying the foundation for a truly successful and striking final staging.
Time to start building!

The waiting is finally over!
Tonight, the building permit officially came through! It is an incredible relief after months of waiting, planning, and navigating the process to finally have the green light for what I want to create this summer. I feel a massive weight lifted off my shoulders, but also a thrilling surge of excitement now that the project can begin in earnest.
While the meticulous preparation, blueprints, and paintings feel like I've already done five percent of the heavy lifting, the practical construction and sourcing of materials is where the project truly comes to life. Now, I can finally order the materials and get my hands dirty. Because of the long delay, the timeline leading up to the final deadline is much tighter, and I will be working right up to the last minute to make all the puzzle pieces fit. Yet, I just feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring this vision and project to life. Now, the real and fun work begins!
21 June 2026
Small step forward
While waiting on the permit, focusing on preparation and the paintings has been a great way to keep the project moving forward. In fact, this waiting period has given the artwork time to evolve, and the paintings are honestly getting better and better. Working with this specific pigment and technique is both thrilling and educational, and it is incredibly rewarding to weave them into my process where every small step forward truly makes a difference. The scale of the paintings is directly based on the window sizes of the upcoming scenographs, creating a direct dialogue between the two mediums.
They vary in size to bring depth and rhythm to the final exhibition space, ranging from the largest piece at 140 x 130 cm to the smallest at 50 x 60 cm. This variation across the cotton canvases will create a beautiful dynamic in the room, and I am learning so much from mixing these scales and formats together as the pieces fall into place.

Keeping the Momentum:
Blueprints, Scale, and Precision While waiting for the permit approval for the new site, I’m making sure to keep the project moving forward every single day. Staying proactive now is essential, not only to ease the workload later, but to ensure everything is executed flawlessly.
Calculating Materials and Framing Right now, I am deep into the technical drawings and construction specs for the different parts of the structure. I’m calculating exact material quantities and mapping out architectural details, like the placement of window sills and frames, and how they will align with the surrounding trees and branches on-site. Scale vs. Reality This phase is all about precision. I’m looking closely at the scale and proportions to make sure my initial ideas translate perfectly into reality.
There will always be minor adjustments along the way, but these meticulous blueprints form the foundation of a smooth workflow ahead. It requires a lot of focused time to weigh decisions that might only become visible in the final photographic staging. When you're in the thick of building, the bigger picture isn't always obvious. That’s why working rigorously with scale and proportion is so vital it’s what makes the tension between fiction and reality feel completely believable.

A New Site and New Heights!
Great news I’ve finally found a new location that feels right! The surroundings are beautiful, with lush greenery in the foreground, and the spot is perfectly nestled between the trees. Best of all, it safely navigates around those underground utility lines. The new site map has officially been submitted, and I’m crossing my fingers for the permit to come through soon.
Facing the Elements In the photo, you can see me holding up a measuring tape to mark the highest point of the planned structure—which will reach an impressive height (I'm anticipating around several meters!). While exciting, a structure of this scale comes with its own technical challenges, especially since this particular spot is highly exposed to the weather and strong winds. Preparing for Construction To tackle these elements safely, I'm already figuring out the best way to secure the structure. I’m currently looking into booking scaffolding and heavy-duty anchoring to make sure the build is both secure and manageable when the time comes. Step by step, the pieces are falling into place!

Finding the Perfect Location ?
Working with site-specific art and set design always involves a bit of detective work. Right now, I’ve hit a few technical snags with my original location. It turns out there are water and power lines running through the ground, making it very difficult to get the necessary permits. Activating Plan B Instead of dwelling on it, I’ve started scouting nearby locations. This means a lot of planning right now mapping things out and physically exploring the area to find a spot that works both artistically and logistically.
A Frustrating but Necessary Delay Unfortunately, this will delay the permit process a bit compared to my original timeline. While it's frustrating, it’s just part of the game when building in a public space. I’m taking it in stride. By doing the groundwork now and making these necessary compromises, I'm ensuring everything is fully prepared when it’s finally time to build. In the end, it will all come together!

Light, Tempera and Ideology
The new project is officially underway! Right now, I’m diving into tempera. It’s incredibly exciting to explore how the unique character of this medium can reinforce the ideological themes I’m currently focusing on.
These new monochrome paintings will serve a dual purpose. They will form the visual foundation for my upcoming stage designs, but the plan is also to showcase them as standalone pieces in the exhibition space side by side with my photographic stagings.
Lately, I’ve been fascinated by the lighting. Tempera has a distinct, matte quality, and experimenting with how light hits the surfaces and transforms the space adds a thrilling new dimension to the entire project.

Egg tempera paint
Today, I ordered canvas and egg tempera paint that I will use for ten paintings that will become part of the project with the 14 photographic poems. These paintings, made in egg tempera and in various sizes, will form part of the photographic scenes and the scenography itself. At the same time, the intention is that these works will also be included in the future exhibition, which requires a careful balancing act when it comes to finding the right shades and colors — tones that can function both within the physical setting of the scenes and in relation to my overall concept and idea for the project.
It feels exciting to be able to incorporate this technique and material into my process, but also to bring together elements within the image that will later reappear in the exhibition space itself. For me, this is an important part of my artistic development: continuously finding new strategies and approaches for how I can develop and use staging as a method in different ways. At the same time, I want to use painting as a foundation and as a tool for discussing concepts that I find important within the work.
The colors consist of seven different colours of egg tempera that will soon arrive, after which I will paint on to primed cutton canvas. This is work that I will carry out in parallel with the preparations for the scenography, which I hope to begin within the next two weeks.
It feels very exciting.

Wating for permit..
As I write this, I am still waiting for approval of my building permit for my summer project. It is very frustrating to be waiting for permission to carry out the project this summer. At the same time, however, it gives me the time and opportunity to immerse myself in the details, which I may have mentioned previously.
Right now, I am spending a great deal of time planning how to structure a timeline, while also calculating how much material I will need to purchase. There are many details that will need to be decided and incorporated into the scenes — partly to ensure that the result is successful, but also to make it possible to build in a sustainable, ecological, and efficient way.
I will spend most of the summer building, which means that it is important to work strategically with a plan and to have something concrete to rely on. The 14 scenes are all different, but there are also similarities between them that make it advantageous not to have to buy entirely separate materials for everything. Still, there is a significant amount of material that needs to be ordered. This includes more than hundreds of meters of timber, all of which requires careful planning, as well as finding efficient and practical ways of transporting and organizing everything. As much as this project is about creating a successful build on site, it is also something that I need to be able to manage and carry out myself. That is where the difficult balance lies — understanding what should be delegated, what I am capable of doing on my own, and what I actually want to focus my energy on.
These considerations are among the most challenging aspects at this stage, where I am simply waiting to begin. In the meantime, I am trying to make the process manageable through sketches and other preparatory material, because I feel that this allows me to remain in an active process and continue moving the project forward, even if it sometimes feels distant while the formal approvals are still not in place. But as soon as the permits are approved, I hope to begin the work immediately, something I have been looking forward to for a very long time.

Set design process
Over the past few weeks, I have continued working on my set pieces alongside my two positions, as director at ÖKKV and photography technician at the Umea Academy of Arts. At the moment, I am in the process of working on the front door that will be part of one of the scenes. It involves a great deal of fitting and adapting in trying to create a door from the door itself. I am currently working on the different parts involved in assembling both the handle and the lock so that they match the appearance of the intended door.
This is something that takes a great deal of time, but is also, in some way, very important when it comes to establishing the atmosphere of the image. Since this will be shown in the hallway, a straight-on image that perhaps does not reveal much in terms of detail, these details become all the more important in making the scene come together.
I have now gathered various secondary elements, including escutcheons, handles, and different turn knobs, in order to experiment and find the aesthetic I am looking for, but above all to ensure that they match the colors of the rest of the scene.
To be continued.

Postcard Project
During the spring at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, I have also been working extra on developing a postcard project together with the bachelor’s and master’s students at the academy. The project involved 25 students from both programs creating their own postcards to illustrate their work and artistic practice.
This is a project that I have managed from beginning to end, and as I write this, I am sitting here sorting the postcards, which will then be placed in a bag with an ISBN code, making it more of an artist’s book. It has been a very new and exciting project for both myself and everyone involved, and extremely educational as well. A great deal of thought and many ideas have gone into determining the format and size, as well as finding a layout, design, and graphic profile that matches the content.
It has been very rewarding to work together with the students and to be part of driving a project like this, something that in many ways extends beyond my regular position. At the same time, it has also been very time-consuming, as it has required extensive collection of material and project management in order to document and photograph the works. We have also gathered relevant information about the different works presented on the cards.
The postcards will be available for sale both at the bachelor’s exhibition, while the master’s students’ cards will be sold in the shop at the Bildmuseet in Umeå throughout the summer.

Tile-inspired decor, bathroom
One of the scenographs in the upcoming projects will include tile-inspired decor meant to resemble ceramic tiles. This is the first time I'm daring to work with a detail like this, which will involve quite a few creative and challenging decisions along the way. The surface area is approximately 11 square meters, and I'm currently in the process of deciding what shade my fictional tiles should have.
To avoid the construction becoming too heavy, I'll be working with thin MDF and cutting out square "tile plates" that will be installed individually across the large wall sections.

Color is on the agenda
Right now in the summer project, color is on the agenda. Both to find and explore the project's color scheme, I am examining and trying to find a color palette that aligns with the vision and plan I have. The important thing, in my opinion, is to find a color balance that suits all 14 scenes, but also to identify a common denominator that makes it easier to enhance the content of the images. I will be testing different color samples and experimenting with various materials to know which board material I will use to build the entire structure, while also finding different colors that can symbolize different parts of the poem.
As for the photographs of the poem, I am increasingly getting a clearer picture not only of my vision regarding what the images are about but also of the strategy I should have when working with the subject. Additionally, the colors provide me with the palette and the opportunity to tailor each scene more and more, scene by scene. This allows me to achieve both visual depth and find different types of starting points, making the overall project clearer. Therefore, the decision-making process regarding color is very important to me, as it influences what is ultimately visible.
This is also where I find inspiration in discovering colors that reference the content or concept of the images. It is crucial for me to experiment with them in different ways to ensure they provide what I want them to add. Of course, changes will occur over time, as different weather conditions affect colors in various ways. But it is at this stage, when the colors come to the forefront and I can test them more extensively, that I feel I have the tools to create and enable something that was previously just a sketch or an illusion.

Building permits and police permits
Building permits and police permits to enable the opportunity to reshoot the scenography outdoors this summer. There are still many pieces left to fit into this puzzle, but I'm very glad to have reached this point where I at least have a foundation with sketches and dimensions, allowing me to more easily visualize and plan forward. Personally, this is sometimes a prerequisite when a project has this level of complexity, but also when it comes to making sound and sustainable decisions at each stage of the process.
This is something I value quite highly in my workflow, as I also want at this stage to be able to steer the project's angles toward a perspective that makes it easier to work with and manage the project—both when it comes to solving upcoming problems and also to find pathways that ensure the result becomes as I envision it.
11 March 2026
Window sills
An important part of the project, for example, are the windows and window sills that I've been working on and thinking about a lot lately. The boundary between indoors and outdoors. Partly how they will look in terms of shape or how they should look aesthetically. This has led me to reason a lot about how much space they should take up and how they should be visible, and whether they should differ from each other or not. The idea is also that parts of the material I'm showing, or parts of these sets I'm making, I should later be able to recycle in various ways for the upcoming exhibition. Which means I might have to think one step ahead, but still reason and figure out what I want and how I'll find ways to explore. Here, for example, is a draft when I looked at different types of stains and textures in the way I imagine the window sill should take. And if you calculate it, it might not seem like such a huge amount of work, but after all, there are over 20 window sills that need to be made for the different scenes in various sizes and be carefully planned in advance to get a sense of where you want to go and how it should look.
Another phase that I'm currently planning a lot is the colors, which colors I want to use in the images, meaning on the sets. I know that the same color will be used on half of the scenes, but for the other scenes I'm exploring daily, partly which colors I'm drawn to in reality, but also to find a color scale that balances with the image and the content of the scene setting. There's a lot to take into consideration, but also a lot to calculate and reason through to find ways that can also highlight the environment, the light, and the scenography together in a good way with the various planned and designed images.

Sunday morning at the hardware store.
Early morning, Sunday morning at the hardware store. I'm starting to familiarize myself with the materials I'll be using. The thing is, when I sketch out my projects and sets, I look around quite a bit to figure out what kind of timber or materials I'll be working with. But it's also when I'm physically on site and can scout around for what I'm looking for—what dimensions and sizes I'll be using that I also clarify the visual plans. These images might be aesthetic choices, really, but they also affect the entire structure's load-bearing capacity.
After all, this project I've been formulating over the past few weeks is somehow something new for me. New in the sense that it's on a monumental scale. It's a project that will take time, yet has many components, and that's what I'm reasoning through right now. It will consist of a total of 14 scenographs. Sets that need to be constructed in different ways from the same starting point. Which requires very good structural strength, but it also requires a structure of getting to know the material I'll be using. But also finding ways for how it should stand stably on site while simultaneously withstanding any wind that might be present there.

Fun news!
I received this lovely picture in my inbox the other day from Östersund, where my photographic work Ställas inför årsringar (2022) is now hanging in Östersund Municipality's newly renovated City Hall. Thanks to Kristina Strömgren for the photo! It's always fun to see one's work in beautiful environments and places in people's everyday lives.

Contemplating and resoning
Lately, I have spent a lot of time contemplating and reasoning, as well as sketching and finding solutions to upcoming problems. In the major project I am currently tackling, there are many components that need to come together. I try to layer things step by step, making different decisions at the right moments while also seeking to stay at the forefront of opportunities to build and realize the project. It is very time-consuming, but it can also be quite rewarding to take the time to reflect on how things should look in advance. For me, this part of the process is somewhat monotonous, but sometimes one can allow oneself to dive deep into important details. Right now, I have been sketching the finalized colors I envision for the various components, and this is one of the sketches I currently have in front of me.

A site visit
Today, I conducted a site visit to the location where I plan to work this summer. I realize already that there will be a lot of work ahead. However, there is also something valuable in being able to visit a site in advance, to reason about it, and to understand the conditions of the place. It's essential to consider the directions and functions of the site in this project. This involves thinking practically about how I can realize this project for myself, as well as finding ways to understand how I can create the best possible conditions for it to turn out as I envision.
It may seem abstract, but I find it quite obvious when it comes to working at full scale. Understanding the site's conditions and taking care of its characteristics are crucial. After all, it's in these components that I can create opportunities for my implementations to take place. While it may not have a massive impact on the site, it still requires logistical effort to execute and realize the project.
Moreover, by visiting the site, I can more easily come to terms with finding a work strategy that can also serve as a forward plan for what I should do next and what is important to include in the project. This is something I always experience when I visit the site. Even if I may have a location in mind when I start sketching out a project, it's during the site visit that the project truly begins to take shape. It’s there that I see what the site looks like, how it resonates with me, and what I want to highlight and bring to attention.

Working in process
Right now, I’m doing a lot of sketching for my upcoming project, which I hope to realize during the summer. There are many practical aspects, as I’ve chosen to focus on breaking the project into smaller parts so that I can more easily structure all the elements that require significant work and project management. But it’s during the sketching phase that I can determine the scale and make decisions that will make it easier in the next step to decide on the amount of materials to purchase, as well as, of course, how everything should look aesthetically. There is a lot to consider, which is naturally a bit stressful, but it can also be quite rewarding at times, as it makes you pause and think through fundamental, well-considered decisions that also make things easier when it comes to aspects of realization that are beyond my control, such as obtaining permits from various authorities, since the construction is planned to take place outdoors.

Art Duo Exhibition by
Peter & Rebecca
It has been intense days of exhibition work and snowstorms, but we are very happy about all of you who braved minus 25°C to attend yesterday’s opening at Apotekshuset, Sollefteå. There were many wonderful conversations, and it was a joy to present our artistic practices together for the first time. My and Rebecca’s duo exhibition The Evanescent Landscape runs until mid-March and follows Apotekshuset’s regular opening hours, which can be found on their website. You are warmly welcome!

Explore The Evanescent Landscape – Opening soon
We are pleased to present the upcoming exhibition The Evanescent Landscape, opening in January at Apotekshuset in Sollefteå.The Evanescent Landscape is a collaborative exhibition by Peter Stridsberg and Rebecca Sharp, where two artistic practices come together to explore the landscape as both a physical place and an inner experience. Through photography, drawing, and sculpture, the artists depict the ever-changing states of nature a living archive of memory, time, vulnerability, and responsibility.
The exhibition features works that, through their thematic engagement with contemporary issues of ecology, place, and shared responsibility, as well as their visual and spatial clarity, invite slow reflection and can serve as lasting elements in environments where many people move and meet in everyday life. In a time marked by transition, political unrest, and ecological uncertainty, the exhibition offers a quiet yet hopeful vision, allowing questions of recovery, relationships, and faith in the future to take center stage.
The exhibition runs until March 14. You are warmly welcome!

New year, new plans and a new upcoming exhibition
It’s been a while since I last updated the website about everything that has been happening in my artistic practice, mainly due to a lack of time. But here is a small personal update.
Since early December, I have been working as Acting Director at ÖKKV in Örnsköldsvik, where I am involved in leading and developing the organisation. It feels both meaningful and exciting to step into this role at a time when the association is moving towards new visions and changes.
Shortly before Christmas, I also received some very positive news: during the spring I will be part of a working group focused on artists’ entrepreneurship and professional practice in Umeå Municipality. It feels great to take on additional assignments alongside my own artistic work. At the same time, I continue my teaching in photography at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.
Over the Christmas holidays, I took the first steps in a new project that I will be working on intensively going forward. It is a project that will require a great deal of construction and physical labour, which makes it especially nice to be able to balance it with other kinds of work.
Soon I will also be sharing news about an upcoming exhibition that I am doing together with Rebecca Sharp at Apotekshuset in Sollefteå. More information coming soon.

Our Vision for Public Art and Place Identity
Today, Rebecca Sharp and I presented our vision project for Ånge Municipality, which we have been working on throughout the autumn on behalf of Region Västernorrland. It has been an educational but also exciting autumn, exploring the place itself while also highlighting and creating a vision and identity for it. The assignment focused on showcasing ways to work with public art in Ånge Municipality. After our presentation to municipal politicians, local businesses, and residents, the material we have developed over the autumn will also be displayed in the town hall. I will share more information and our vision proposal materials later. To be continued.

A Few Days in Paris!
I’ve just returned home after several days wandering through Paris, a city that always seems to refill my creative spirit. Between long walks and quiet moments in cafés, I gathered energy and inspiration for the projects that lie ahead.
I spent time at Paris Photo, drifting from one captivating exhibition to another, each one opening a new window of thought. The trip became both a much-needed pause and the spark for a new project I’m now ready to begin.
There’s something special about starting fresh after being in a place like Paris. The city sharpens your focus, gently shaping the direction of your work, while giving you the space to look outward, to observe, to breathe in a different rhythm. It’s in those shifts of atmosphere that new ideas begin to take root.

My Video Work Presented Monumentally in Umeå city
Tonight, this year’s Höstljus Festival in central Umeå opens, running over the next three weeks. I am pleased to, this year, present a monumental video work projected onto a building facade in the city center at Kungsgatan 44, Umeå.
The video work, titled ""I den varsamt lugna horisonten står vi inför historiens lagrade närhet i mitt arv" (2024), combines the forces of the sea with a personal landscape history along the west coast of Scotland, a place and a sea where one of my relatives survived two shipwrecks in the early 20th century.
In the work, a scene is staged depicting a meeting against the horizon, where time, memory, and the body move together. The piece can be seen as a dialogue with Caspar David Friedrich’s Mönch am Meer (1808–1810), in which humanity confronts the infinite and the enigmatic grandeur of nature. At the same time, the scene connects to my previous contemplative landscape portrayals, where nature becomes a space for identity, loss, and transformation.
Through the staging, the landscape is explored as both a passage and a barrier, serving as a symbol of belonging and vulnerability. The sea carries not only stories but also functions as a metaphor for our in-between space between past and present, between the place we visit and the one to which we belong.

So excited to finally share my new website!
Over the past few weeks Albin Ulvebring has built and designed it from the ground up, creating a brand-new graphic profile and identity that feels so right for me and my work. It’s been an incredibly fun, creative, and inspiring collaboration from start to finish, and I’m really happy with the result.
I’ve also uploaded my latest works from this summer and early autumn, along with some updated texts that I’ll continue adding to over time.

Preparations for the upcoming exhibition
Today, I visited the venue where my partner, Rebecca Sharp, and I will be holding a duo exhibition at Apoteketshuset in Sollefteå. It’s going to be very exciting to present our works in such a beautiful space. We came away with some new ideas and various measurements that will form the basis for the exhibition model we’ll start working on in the coming weeks. More to come soon.

New Things Are Happening Now!
Right now, a lot of work is happening that might not be visible here on the website, but much of it revolves around my artistic practice, where I’m working on the final details of editing the pieces I created during my residency. I have also started work on an entirely new website, which will be designed by Albin Ulvebring. I’m very excited to soon be able to launch a completely new, in-depth site, full of updates and news.

Starting Our Public Art Vision in ÅngeMunicipality
Last week, Rebecca Sharp and I began our vision work for public art in Ånge Municipality and Region Västernorrland an exciting project that we look forward to exploring together throughout the fall.
The first few days were filled with rewarding meetings and inspiring site visits around the municipality, which laid a solid foundation for the work ahead.

Tracing Landscapes: Reflections
Over the past two weeks, I’ve had the privilege of being in residence along the Ångerman River in Västernorrland. Here, I’ve had the time and space to delve deeper into my artistic practice, explore the landscape’s vistas, and create new works in the environments once inhabited by Helmer Osslund places I’ve long wished to follow.
The residency has also given me the opportunity to plan upcoming projects and exhibitions, for which I’m deeply grateful. I carry with me the shifting moods of the place, new reflections, and the morning light that dances over the river. A heartfelt thank you to Kulturreservatet Marieberg for allowing me to spend these days between the last nights of summer and the first steps of autumn.

Sceneries in Light
During my residency period, I have been focusing on creating new photographic works along the Ångermanlands älven, where I am currently based. It has been a wonderful experience to see and explore these landscapes in different light throughout the day and night. Being right in the middle of the landscape, I have just a 15-minute walk to reach this view.
It often feels as if I am stepping into the world of motifs created by the Swedish northern artist Helmer Osslund, which was one of the reasons I accepted this residency. His work has recently been a major inspiration for me in depicting the landscape and the concept of scenery, central to his nature-romantic imagery.
I also find myself reflecting on how we are nurtured into different forms of knowledge and literacy for the landscape. It is easy to connect this to one’s personal background when walking on the white moss, noticing the lingonberry bushes underfoot, and climbing the small hills scattered throughout the forest. These moments shape how I perceive and interpret the natural world in my work.

Double Meetings on Future Projects
Yesterday, I had two inspiring meetings focused on exciting upcoming collaborations and exhibitions. I'm pleased to be part of Höstljus in Umeå once again this year. I will present a new video work projected in central Umeå, with the opening scheduled for late October. More details will be shared soon.
I also had a meeting regarding my ongoing collaboration with artists Gustav Hellberg, Linda Peterson, and South Korean artist Borahm Kim. Together, we are preparing a joint exhibition as part of our residency in Surnadal, Norway, next summer.
The discussion with the residency's artistic director, Jon Arne, helped shape our plans for both the process and the exhibition. I'm excited to share more as both projects develop.

Insights and Upcoming Projects: A evening with Curators
Yesterday morning, I temporarily left my artist residency as I had the great pleasure of hosting a studio visit for curators Statens Konstråd and directors from Sweden and abroad at my studio in Örnsköldsvik.
I spoke and shared my experiences, presented my work, and also gave a brief introduction to some of my upcoming exhibitions and projects that I’m currently working on. A heartfelt thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences with you during your short visit.

Artist in Residency, Day 1
Today I arrived at my artist residency, where I will be staying for the next two weeks. It truly feels special to have the opportunity to settle into the landscape and, in peace and quiet, lay out a clear plan for my upcoming exhibitions and projects. I also look forward to having time to do research for new works and to create on site.
I’m located along the Ångermanlandsälven in the High Coast, known for its land uplift and breathtaking views. It will be exciting to see what new insights and ideas I gather during this period. The photo was taken from the kitchen window of the apartment where I’ll be living during my stay.

On One of the Hottest Days
Over the past few days, I completed my latest photographic staging, a process I’ve previously spoken about. Working on this piece during one of the hottest days of the year brought with it both physical intensity and a heightened sense of presence. There’s something quietly rewarding about being able to create in a still, undisturbed environment, even when the heat presses in and becomes part of the experience itself. The atmosphere , thick with summer shaped not only the images but also the emotional tone of the entire session.
This particular scene will be revealed at a later stage, once I’ve settled on its final title. It will form part of a new artistic direction I’m exploring in my forthcoming projects, a shift that feels both necessary and invigorating. As always, I’m drawn to the intersection of light, place, and memory, and this work continues that journey in a new, more intimate way.
I also recently received some joyful news, something I’m truly excited about and eager to share in due time. For now, I can only say that what’s ahead feels filled with possibility.

Sketch Photography Begun, The In-Between Space as Memory and Presence
I have carried a particular scene with me for a long time, one that I previously photographed and have long felt a desire to revisit and further develop. Today, I finally began the sketch photography of this scene that has stayed with me since 2018.
It feels exciting to reawaken this photographic moment, where light, the human presence, and the in-between space between humanity, aging, and the landscape take center stage. To be continued...

View from my desk towards the river
Since the opening of the exhibition Fram i ljuset in Ängelholm, time has flown by. I am currently teaching at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, where I am leading a summer course in photography on my own with a focus on critical gaze and stage. The course is held online and brings together around twenty participants from both Sweden and abroad.
Together, we explore photographic expression through themes such as the human figure, landscape, light, and the significance of place. It's incredibly rewarding to work with a group that brings such a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
At the same time, I’ve been active at Mid Sweden University Sundsvall, where I’ve taught in photographic project development. It’s been an intense and enriching period, where together with new colleagues. I’ve guided students in shaping and deepening their own photographic ideas and processes.
In recent years, summer has become an important time for my artistic practice. The extended daylight and more stable weather make it easier to realize ideas, especially projects that require outdoor work or the construction of scenographic elements. It's a time when I can build, test, and develop works that I've carried with me for some time.
As the first part of the course soon comes to an end, I’m hoping for a short break and the opportunity to begin new projects and dedicate more time to my own artistic work.

Thank you for a wonderful vernissage!
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by my vernissage at Galleri Moment in Ängelholm yesterday!
It was such a joy to share my latest works with you but even more meaningful that you took the time to stay, look, and ask questions. Your curiosity and interest truly made me happy. Hearing your thoughts and reflections is always a highlight for me.
I'm also especially glad that the long titles this time were shown alongside the images, helping to tell the story and add more layers to the experience. The exhibition runs until June 19, so if you're in the area, you're warmly welcome to stop by then as well.

Hanging the new exhibition
Today I installed my new solo exhibition at Galleri Moment in Ängelholm. There’s something uniquely rewarding about watching the works settle into the space — how the light moves across the prints, how they begin to interact with each other, and how the room starts to breathe with the presence of the images. Alongside the photographs, I carefully placed the titles, creating a dialogue between image and text. The titles act almost like quiet companions, subtly guiding the viewer into each scene and opening up new layers of interpretation. Exhibiting in southern Sweden again holds a special meaning for me.
Ängelholm is just a short distance from where I began studying photography twelve years ago, and returning to this region with a body of work feels both grounding and surreal. It’s a reminder of where the journey started — the early experiments, the search for a visual language, and the first steps into artistic practice.
Now, more than a decade later, I return with new eyes but the same deep curiosity for the photographic image. This exhibition is not just a presentation of recent work. It is also a quiet reflection on time, place, and creative growth. I’m proud to share it in a setting that feels so personally resonant. To return here not as a student, but as an exhibiting artist, feels like closing one chapter while opening another.

Upcoming exhibition, next week
In the exhibition Fram i ljuset (“Into the Light”) at Galleri Moment, Stridsberg presents a new series of photographic works in which the gaze and the presence of light serve as central elements in a collection of visual poems.
These carefully staged photographs are part of his ongoing project Nattens grönska (“The Greenery of Night”), through which he explores his sense of in-betweenness – a state of being situated between places, identities, or experiences – in relation to nature. The works trace a shifting connection to landscape, shaped by both physical surroundings and emotional resonance.
In this body of work, light does not merely illuminate; it becomes an active participant, guiding the viewer’s attention and creating moments of intimacy and tension. The photographs function as poetic encounters, fragments of a visual language that unfolds slowly and suggestively.
As a unique element in this exhibition, the titles of the works are extended into the physical exhibition space, forming a dialogue between text and image, between word and light. This approach feels particularly meaningful given Galleri Moment’s direct connection to the local public library – a space where stories, language, and imagination also reside.
Together, these elements form a contemplative and layered experience one that invites viewers to linger, to look more closely, and to step into a world suspended between reality and reverie.

Back to the studio
Today, I was finally back at work and started sketching one of my upcoming projects that I’ve been eager to dive into for quite some time. This project is a scenography for a photographic work that I hope to bring to life in the near future, ideally this summer, or at the latest before autumn and the bad weather arrives.
It’s always exciting to begin on a smaller scale, working with models that allow me to experiment, test ideas, and find solutions before the real challenges of building begin. This is where I explore how the scenography should look and what it should contain.
Sketching is always my method – a way to weave together images and thoughts I’ve carried with me. It’s my way of thinking through and feeling into the project. Once the idea has taken root, it’s through the sketch that the process truly begins to take shape.

A Memorable Artist Talk with Carl-Johan Olsson at Riche
This past Thursday, I had the great honor of engaging in a conversation with Carl-Johan Olsson from the Nationalmuseum, in connection with my exhibition at Riche. It was a truly meaningful and intimate exchange, where we explored different perspectives on my work. Sharing my thoughts and ideas alongside Carl-Johan’s deep knowledge and experience made for a generous and insightful dialogue.
I’m deeply grateful to Calle Carboni for participating and for making this evening possible. It was a privilege to have this conversation in such a thoughtful and fitting context. The exhibition remains on view at Riche until Sunday, before it continues its journey south.
A heartfelt thank you as well to everyone who came and helped make this warm Thursday evening so special.

An Essay by Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren about Brytningstid
I recently had the pleasure of receiving a warm and insightful essay written by Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren – an art historian and one of the panel participants during our conversation at Örnsköldsvik Museum and Art Gallery earlier this winter.
In the text, she reflects on my works from the exhibition Brytningstid with great sensitivity and analytical depth.
You’re warmly invited to read her thoughts below.

Shapes of frames as decor
I have recently been thinking a lot about form and narrative in relation to my photographic scenes and stagings. I find it exciting to explore new forms where the stage can function as a 3D dimensional form for the photograph and mimic the stage decor or expected form when we sit in front of a theater set, for example.
The set is something that interests me because it asks questions about expectation that includes both excitement but it also speaks of a visual depth in meeting the director and the set designer's world. I am experimenting to investigate how the form can be an origin for one of my photographic stagings where I want the design of the frame to carry the same symbiosis as the photographic narrative in the communication of the scene. Difficult, exciting and also complex process if you ask me about it.

Process from the studio and teaching
In the studio I am currently working on my exhibition at Galleri Moment in Ängelholm which opens at the end of May. The model is a method for exploring how I will design this space. I also plan to let my titles have a larger part in this exhibition as I plan to show these pages with the works and function a bit like book covers that create a spatial design together with the intimate works.
More about the exhibition will be added on an ongoing basis as I am currently working with tutors and teaching students about their photographic projects at Mituniverseitet in Sundsvall.

Supermarket Art Fair
My plastic-specific installation at Supermarket Art Fair is finally on site. I'm presenting the new work at Galleri Lokomotiv's booth. The gallery is connected to ÖKKV where I work and have my studio.
"At Supermarket I show a new site-specific installation that makes visible my curiosity for scenography and illusion as a temporary place where it is based on the reflection of the landscape in the glass whose image functions as both a limited surface and an image where a meeting creates two extremes as landscape and backdrop, meet just as in the English word "scenery".
The fair runs from April 3rd to 6th.

New week and a new exhibition
The installation has now arrived at Supermarket and work is now beginning to install the final details before Wednesday's opening at the international artist-run gallery fair in Stockholm. It will be exciting to show a work that both reflects the process but also my artistry, how I work and how I conceptually develop in my artistry.
I am exhibiting for Galleri Lokomotiv which is the gallery that is in the same building where I have my new studio in Örnsköldsvik. My work is presented together with Jenny Lundgren and Mikael Arvidsson. Our booth is curated by Maria Sundström and Maria Lagerborg.

Many fun things are happening at the same time, Stockholm x 2.
Time has really flown by since Tuesday's opening at Riche in Stockholm. Many thanks to everyone who came by for the opening. It was really fun to meet and talk to you all about my latest works. It is a privilege to exhibit under the direction of maestro Carl Carboni, thank you again for your commitment and your inspiring energy! Also a big thank you to Carl-Johan Olsson for coming by and your exhibition text was better than I had hoped for and also very thought-provoking. It will be really fun to delve deeper into our perspectives and readings later when we meet again in a conversation. More info about this will come when everything is nailed down in everyone's calendars.
Sometimes you just have to keep up with the times and try to enjoy the moment between turns of standing at your own opening and then a little more than a day later supervising students at the Academy of Fine Arts in their artistic processes. The studio move is now also completed.
Tomorrow I have an early trip to Stockholm and new exhibition work at Supermarket where I will build a new installation with printed glass that will hopefully be finished before Wednesday's opening.
Then I have teaching and exhibition work in various forms at the Academy of Fine Arts with degree projects and supervision at Mid Sweden University, my own exhibition in Ängelholm and later my summer course in Scenic Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Now we're hanging!
After a long train journey through Sweden last night, I finally arrived in Stockholm. This morning we started hanging my new exhibition at Riche, which has a vernissage on Tuesday evening. It feels really fun to see the works placed in this slightly different environment to what I'm used to, but a very pleasant experience. It's going to be really fun to finally show this project, which is a project that I'll be working on continuously in the future. My current idea is that the project should also show different seasons and other places in Northern Sweden that the project originates from both conceptually and in terms of content. Soon I will also post a slightly longer text where I describe my thoughts on the project Nattens grönska.

The installation is ready for transport and I will go directly to the next exhibition...
The painting and installation of the window went quickly, fortunately, because there is a lot to do right now. A few details with moldings and mounting of the printed glass that remain on the work. But I will later install these parts on site to avoid the parts being damaged during transport, which will depart on Monday next week.
Now work awaits for the second exhibition, which opens in less than a week. The works will already be hung by the weekend. It will be really fun to present these new works in Stockholm. Before that, I will be photographed and documented this works tomorrow when I pick these 8 new works from my frame maker.

Exhibition at Riche, Stockholm
I am pleased to invite you to the opening of my new solo exhibition at Riche in Stockholm with the opening on Tuesday, March 25th between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
In my exhibition The Light Before the Poem of the Transition, I present eight brand new photographic works that were produced during the winter of 2025 where the gaze and the light shine are at the center of various photographic poems in northern Sweden.
These tableaux are based on my ongoing project The Greenery of the Night where I am currently investigating how we perceive and represent the presence of the landscape and the search for light for us humans during the ongoing green transition.
Together with the works, an interesting and beautiful exhibition text written by the National Museum's curator
Carl-Johan Olsson will be presented. The exhibition at Riche runs until May 25th.For more information about the exhibition.

New installation for a upcoming exhibition
I am currently working on two exhibitions that will take place one week apart in the end of mars. Today I was working with a new installation that I will show at this year's Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm. Over 50 different artist-run galleries will be presented at the fair.
My work will be presented in a small curated group exhibition together with two artists from ÖKKV where I work and have my studio right now.
This work is an installation that will consist of a installation with windows and printed glass. Currently, I have worked with the surface with putty to get a structure on the otherwise smooth plasterboard before I start painting and installing the window.

Several exciting things are coming up
After a few weeks of traveling to different places in southern Sweden after the artist talk, I have now started in full swing with all the spring exhibitions and projects that will be realized in the near future. This weekend I photographed new works in Skellefteå for my upcoming solo that I will have at Riche in Stockholm in a little over a month. There will also be some fun surprises in connection with this opening that will be announced later. The weekend's pictures will now be finely edited and the formats will be decided before they go for production and finally framing at the framer. I am very much looking forward to presenting these new works even though it has been cold and almost -10 during yesterday's photo shoot so it was more strenuous than I had expected.
Then I will also soon start working on an installation that I will build during an art fair in Stockholm in April. A lot of practical work in a short time awaits as I will also be moving to a new studio.

Artist Talk - About weather and human's relationship to the landscape
The current exhibition Brytningstid tells of a shift, something else is coming. Are we moving towards a posthumanism that challenges the central position of human?
Peter Stridsberg talks with Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren and Linda Nordlander Frisk about the intrinsic value of the landscape and nature as a resource for human needs, based on the exhibition Brytningstid.

Last photoshoot of the year
Today was the last photographic project of the year with new scenes photographed outdoors in different locations. The new project, which goes by the working title "Under the night greenery", is a work that I will present at my upcoming exhibitions in the spring.
At the moment I have photographed four different scenes and there will be several pictures from this series that I have wanted to make for a long time, which feels extra good now that the snow out in the landscape is here to stay.
You can follow my works in progress here on Instagram.

In a silent landscape
Today I visited new snow landscapes for my ongoing project Under the night greenery in Västerbotten. The plan is for the works to be photographed later in December and during the winder. The works will be included in my upcoming shows and the project will also be available to read about as under the process tab here on the website later.
It is truly a pleasure to set out to try to find new environments and places in such a fantastic winter landscape where everywhere you turn you are surrounded by a silent landscape.

Thank you so very much!
Thank you to everyone who came to the Friday opening. It was really fun that so many braved the rain and cold to visit the exhibition. It felt great to hear your thoughts and reflections on my work and especially to show a work from a place that many visitors have such heartfelt meaning for.
The exhibition runs until January 25th and more information about the public talk with Diana Berntsdotter Vallgren and Linda Nordlander Frisk will be coming later. A warm welcome to visit the exhibition!

The final preparations and puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place for tomorrow's opening of my exhibition Brytningstid. I am very happy to be able to realize this exhibition and present my largest photographic work ever. It feels like a very nice feature that gives the entire showroom a pleasant atmosphere to step into.
Hope you find time to find yourself there and meet the magnificent and sublime in this exhibition which runs for the next 6 weeks until January 25.

Behind the scenes of the new exhibition
This week I have started the hanging of my new exhibition which will open on Friday next week. Together with the staff at the museum, we installed my biggest photographic work ever. The work is almost 20 square meters in size and it feels really fun to present this at the Museum as the place in the picture is taken from the local area.
Next week, more work awaits with lighting and press screening in the opening, which takes place on Friday evening.

A special request from Italy
A little over a month ago, I received a request from Fondazione Leonardo, Italy if I would consider including one of my photographic works in their latest magazine which is focus in science, technology and innovation. I said Yes and received the magazine the other day.
It's always fun to see your pictures in print and it feels good to see your work in a well-curated context with both pictures and texts.

Welcome to the opening of my new exhibition
A lot is happening right now for me with work for the upcoming exhibition and planning of the winter's various projects that I will soon start and do some more field studies in Västerbotten's small villages and landscapes. There are many things that need to be done, but also work with transport, disassembling autumn lights and collecting works from the framer. I am also a little extra excited as I will be presenting my biggest photographic work.
Therefore, it makes me extra happy to be able to share the poster and take the opportunity to invite to the opening of my solo exhibition at Örnsköldsvik's museum and Konsthall. The exhibition opens on December 6 and runs until January 25, 2025.
More about the opening and the exhibition can be found at the link: https://www.ornskoldsvik.se/fritid-och-kultur/kultur/ornskoldsviks-museum-och-konsthall/ornskoldsviks-museum-och-konsthalls-utstallningar/aktuella-utstallningar/2024-11-11-brytningstid

The installation is now complete and soon a new exhibition..
Now finally my latest installation is in place with all the associated parts. It feels really fun and nice that everything is now in place. Today I have documented the work and the text about the work can be read under the installations tab here on the website.
Otherwise, work continues with other projects and exhibitions. In a little more than a month, I will open my new solo exhibition at Örnsköldsvik Museum and Konsthall, which I am very much looking forward to. More info about that exhibition will come shortly.

Finally it begins..
After a lot of work last week, the two installations are now in place. There are some small adjustments that I will make in the near future, but I am very happy that everything is finally up despite all the setbacks during this project. A full text and documentation will come as soon as the final details are in place. Pictures from the process can be found on my instagram.

The light in the tunnel
This weekend I worked on the two installations that will shortly be presented at this year's light festival. It feels really good to finally begin to finish this project which meant a lot of work for me.
I am very grateful for the support and help I have received during the process and I also look forward to seeing the finished results. For more information about this year's festival, you can see on the link below.

Digging in the park
Today I was able to carry out the excavation with the help of an excavator driver of the six concrete foundations that will be used for my two installations of this year's autumn lights which will soon be installed.
It was a little nervous before it went away once we started working together to place the various foundations. It's always fun to be able to work together with new people, even if it sometimes creates tension as there is a lot of planning that is done before, as in this case when the excavator driver shows up on site. But wants to succeed in completing the job within the allotted time. So now the next step in the process awaits.

A weekend in Lofoten
I had the great pleasure of visiting Lofoten during this intense weekend with the two towns of Svolvær and Henningsvaer. After visiting this year's LIAF art festival, I took the opportunity to photograph a brand new work on one of Lofoten's oldest mountains. It was a fantastic experience to visit the place and would love to go back very soon. The work from the site is coming soon can be found under "works" where several of my latest works are posted continuously.

Between the projects
Right now there is a lot going on with my ongoing projects where I jump between building the set for my new work and with the work for this year's Höstljus in Umeå which has required a lot of preparations and planing which I must also start working on very soon.
Of course, it is stressful to have to go between two projects, but sometimes it can also be stimulating to be able to take turns because it is not every day that you can make progress, but you sometimes have to wait for answers or think an extra turn before making important decisions in the process. I.
On this Instagram link, you can see more documentation from the work that is currently being produced in a slightly more updated way because there is a lot going on in the project studio now.

The spruce forest
Depending on the landscape. Dependence on spruce forest. In this new work, I try to both make visible and investigate the function of the spruce in my surroundings in times of the green transition that is currently underway in northern Sweden where I live. It was obvious to mix the plant into the work and the scenography in some way where it could have a significant role.
This work will be able to be read about in the future under the project tab here on the website because this is something that I am interested in right now and would like to immerse myself more in my artistry.

The first scene of autumn
Now that all the material is finally in place in the project studio, I have decided to take the chance and take the opportunity to produce a new photographic work that has been in the back of my mind for a long time. The scenography for the staged photography will also be photographed in the same room under construction that I am currently working in.
So there will be some logical problems to solve, problems to solve along the way, but it feels very luxurious to be able to working on several projects at the same time, even if the brain goes into high gear and tries to remember where I put all my tools.
20 September 2024
Now the seriousness begins!
After many twists and turns, all the building materials finally arrived in place for the autumn's various projects. It's always just as exciting to receive such a large amount of material that will go to new works. But it feels really great to finally be starting to realize the plans. So there will be a lot of work ahead.

Sometimes it's great to be able to work outdoors
At the beginning of December, my next solo exhibition opens. Today I have been out photographing the work that I see as the main work for the exhibition. Today was a day that was really grateful to work outdoors together surrounded by wonderful people who helped realize this work that I look forward to presenting later.
More about the exhibition will come later, but I can already say that I am really looking forward to realizing this work at the museum where it will hang, even if I have a lot of other things to do before then.

My new work in a wonderful Museum collection in Italy

The first three
It is now a little more than a week since I came back to Sweden after Italy. During the last few days, I have worked intensively on building up the first three scenographers outdoors for the work with the working title "surroundings of the landscape" for which I have done preliminary studies and models during the summer.
There is more text about the ongoing work available to read under the ongoing projects.

The new exhibition in Italy
It was very warm and intense work week in Trento, Italy.
A fantastic journey filled with exciting conversations and meetings amid laughter with new inspiring people. I'm still completely overwhelmed after all the response during Saturday's opening. I hardly had time to get any pictures during the evening.
I am also very grateful and incredibly proud to be part of such a fine and important context where art and science are combined side by side in such a fine museum and beautifully curated by Andrea Lerda.
It is also really interesting to take part in new scientific research in the field that exists and to read together about my work in the beautiful in catalogue. The texts are written by Francesco Meneguzzo, Federica Zabini, Ilaria De March, Felix Windegger and Christoph Kircher.
More news about the exhibition will come soon on the website and for more information about the show. The exhibition runs until November 17.

Work in progress in Trento, Italy
After a long day of travel yesterday I finally arrived in Trento, Italy where this week I am installing my new work which will be displayed in a fantastic museum until the middle of November. It's hot outside so it feels very nice to be inside working during these hot hours of the day.
The exhibition has its opening on Saturday and I can shortly also present more about the exhibition here on the website. A physical and digital catalog with images and texts will also be released. It feels incredibly fun to both participate but also to be part of such a fine exhibition with many interesting artists!

Very excited about this upcoming exhibition
I am very happy to announce that I am one of the invited artists in the exhibition “The Mountain Touch” at Museo delle Scienze di Trento, Italy with opening at 18 am, July 27th. In the exhibition I present a completely new work that is a site-specific installation that include photography on glass, a video and a room installation which I have developed during the last months.
17 artists and their works in dialogue with scientific content. Two museums united to tell the story of the association between good health and connection with nature through art and science. This is the theme explored in the exhibition The Mountain Touch, which will be inaugurated at the MUSE - Museum of Science in Trento on 27 July 2024. The exhibition “The Mountain Touch” is an art-science project conceived and produced by the National Mountain Museum.
Warm welcome and I am really looking forward to seeing this exhibition in place!

A combination with exhibitions in different environments
Autumn begins to fill up more and more with new exhibitions in new places and exciting challenges in the public space.
The combination of these two environments is very fun conditions for realizing ideas but also gives the opportunity to experiment with new tools.
The picture on the left shows the place where I will have an upcoming solo exhibition later this year that I have now started planning for.

A reflection on my work which is placed in a hospital
A nice post was recently published about my work being purchased and placed at Skaraborg Hospital, Skövde. It's nice to hear about reflections and afterthoughts about one's work at the same time that they have a function in the public space.
" Loneliness or being part of something bigger? Both concepts are complex and nuanced, and can be interpreted in many different ways. So also this work with the long title The careful mirror of the horizon stretches forward through the shimmer where the steps temporarily rest. by Peter Stridsberg , which was recently acquired by the art unit"

Guest teacher and examiner
Last week I was a guest teacher and was an examiner at Umeå Art School's graduation exhibition. A few weeks ago I received the request and always enjoys sharing his thoughts and reflections on artistic works.
That was also the case this time. Really Fun day that made me discover and talk about the students' work, but also to discuss their different processes.
Warm thanks again for your invitation and this experience of being a guest teacher to your students.

Preliminary studies for upcoming works
Right now I'm developing templates for my upcoming sets that I will try to build in full scale during the summer. The models are on a scale of 1:10 and are preliminary studies to partly find the size of the different windows in the scenography but also to plan the location of the various works when these will later be built outdoors.
17 May 2024
Västerbottens museum next!
Today I have handed over three newly produced works that will be shown in a group exhibition at the Västerbottens Museum this summer and well into September.
It is always just as exciting to exhibit work that has not been shown before in an exhibition context. The three photographic works include the suite The window towards the road by the lake (2023)

Abisko and new landscapes
for upcoming exhibitions
Yesterday was an intense, wet and cold working day among the Swedish mountains and mountain landscape. It was of course no surprise, but I feel extremely grateful and privileged to have the help of such a team with the execution of yesterday's production. This would not have been possible without you.
The new works with both photographic and cinematic elements will be presented in a larger work that will be presented at an incredibly fine international museum exhibition in Europe. Which I am very happy to be a part of. I will be able to present more information about the exhibition shortly.

New puzzle pieces
Between the intensive work of the last few weeks, I have started to experiment a little for some upcoming works and projects in the studio. I often work with several works at the same time, even if it is in media or materials. It is a way for me to be able to develop projects without having to spend a lot of time on planning and implementation, which is otherwise most common when I work with my installations or set designs. Then it feels very fun to be able to do things on a smaller scale that can function as preliminary studies with testing new methods.
My processes involve putting a lot of puzzles together and finding different methods. Sometimes these exprements can be the keys to being able to solve larger projects. Therefore, I value this part of the process highly, even if it may not always be visible in a finished work.

Exhibition in Hjåggsjö
I am happy to announce that I will participate and exhibit one of my works during this year's “Konst åt alla" It feels very good to be part of this group exhibition. This consists of various artists from the area around Västerbotten.

It runs until May 19. Warm welcome!

Processes from the studio
Spring has reached the studio and several new sketches and experiments are taking shape in the studio. Some small and subtle scenographic fragments.
At the same time, I am working on developing a site-specific installation that I will soon be able to share. The work will be presented this summer and throughout the fall. So more information about this work will come shortly.

New tab about Public Commissions
I also sometimes work with proposals for public art in public spaces. In the last year I have made several proposals and it is a fun way to develop my artistry and create new encounters with art for people in the public space.
I have now added a new category above on the website among the menu where you can take look at them and read.
The image is taken from a news article photographed by Marcus Berglund.

Work on Restaurant Gondolen in Stockholm
One of my photographic works is now displayed at the entrance to Restaurang Gondolen in Stockholm. It feels good to show my work in this context, where guests can encounter the work in a cozy and convivial atmosphere.
Very happy to be able to make this possible. The work was photographed at the Flatens nature reserve in Stockholm, which makes it extra fun to present it in the same city.

Good news x 2
I am happy that over two of my latest works will be part of the cultural plan in the Västerbotten region where I live and work. It feels very fun and full of honor that my works are in these documents where they describe plans for the culture within the next few years.
Also happy to announce that one of the works was recently purchased by Nässjö Municipality, which is already now located in their premises. The work is framed with a walnut frame in a box frame.

New projects have started!
I have now started new projects which are currently in process and unfortunately I cannot reveal anything now, but it feels really fun and exciting to realize ideas and thoughts I have had for a longer period.
Now during the winter I will also change my studio and hope to get started with a larger project that will involve several different materials, techniques and ways of expression which I will update here on the website on an ongoing basis.
A lot of work awaits, but it will also be fun to get to know new materials and find new methods of expressions.
